Brad was out from London Town so I couldn’t really say ‘no’ to a sojourn with The Devil Hates Kung-Fu at the The Strawb. Even though Sydney was doing its best impression of wet and dreary English weather we still managed to put together quite a large team. But without their own Brad-Effect most other teams apparently opted to stay dry, warm and away.
Normally second place would seem like a good effort. But when only two teams remain in the final round, its also called coming last.
The question that caused the most contention was about what city the Princes Highway ended up in after starting in St. Peters. We didn’t know the answer but we had fun debating it. I had the Pacific Highway in mind the whole time.
Food-wise I experimented with the seafood platter. Quite good for $15 but no BBQ mixed grill.

I think I’ve been out of the trivia game for too long. Couldn’t say I answered any questions and didn’t really pay attention most of the night. It could have had something to do with being seated downstairs at The Strawb. You’re just too apart from it down there. I’m still oblivious as to the final score of The Devil Hates Kung-Fu.
The chicken schnitzel was passable for the budget price of $6.50. Continuing the cheap theme, I picked up a William Gibson novel at Basement Books for $7.95. And I got my Hulk Hands back. Let the smashing commence.

Another good solid trivia performance from the Devil Hates Kung-Fu at the Strawb. Actually we only won by one point on 55. But in our usual style, under-played it. Our reserved responses to correct answers apparently faked out the rowdy team downstairs into thinking they had it in the bag. Where they cheered and clapped themselves, we merely shared respectful nods.
The replacement host went through the questions like lightning so we were actually done before I had to leave for the train.
Pete and I also each had the Mixed Char Grill. Excellent value. Although I made it through the ribs, sausage and fries, I still had a small amount of steak and chop on my plate.
