The Day The Music Died

There was a nice “Google hack” that I used a lot to find files I was after (although I don’t really consider it a hack. Just more common-sense since it seemed a fairly obvious premise and had occurred to me way before it was published anywhere).

A person would be able to find people’s personal collection of… oh, lets say mp3s… that they had inadvertantly shared by enabling directory browsing and therefore Google to catalog their index. These pages usually contain the text “index-of” or “parent-directory” and by coupling these with .mp3 in a Google search one could usually get what one was after.

This technique has been pretty much rendered useless for myself in the last year by dodgy sites including these phrases in their meta-tags or whatever. And mostly likely greater caution among webmasters along with the greater awareness. This coupled with the recent demise of one of my favourite forums, Stairway to Heaven, has left me jonesin’.

Well. It was good while it lasted.

W.W.F.D?

I have saved my favourite idea for last.

Idea #4

What would Fonzie do?

If not a question we ask ourselves in everything we do in our every day lives, it most definitely applies to the goings on on a bucks night. Although I don’t think I’ll be jumping anything with a motorcycle. But, you never know.

This was also nixed by my group of friends. Too cool or something. I’m not sure because I wasn’t listening anymore. I just printed off a ream of these and then bitch-slapped the jukebox to listen to some tunes. And why? Because its what Fonzie would do. That’s why.

For Those About To Rock…

…we salute you. This one is quite obviously AC/DC inspired.

Idea #3

This was actually the first design idea that I had for a bucks night souvenir. It would have been incredible as an embroidered patch. Kind of like those sew-ons that kids put on their bomber jackets when I was in high school.

It just occurred to me one day that mine and my wife-to-be’s initials were very similar to the name of the greatest Australian rock band of all time. And they just happen to have an instantly recognisable logo too.

The idea was 86ed at the friend level since the night is supposed to be about me alone. I still really like it so I made it anyway and would still like to see it embroidered on one of my sleeves some day.
